
Comercial Industry San Martin Ltd. is a company dedicated to the processing and commercialization of bovine meat. It started operations in 1975 and its industrial plant is located in the municipality of Nandaime.
Its main commitment is with the quality of its products enphasizing quality control, hygiene and technology; offering its clients bovine meat processed under the most strict intenational standards.
Its industrial plant offers an installed capacity to process 900 livestock each day. It posseses a capacity to store a terminated product both refrigerated and frozen up to 1.5 million pounds.
The quality of San Martin Meat starts from its raw material. It has more than 2.000 cattle suppliers in all the country, that year after year decide to offer their best young cattle, most of them Brahman and Brown Swiss breed with average ages ranging from 25-36 months of life.
The industrial plant relies on aproximately 600 workers. In each one of its processings areas, there is a constant cleaning up and control, as a result of the fullfillment of strict standars and international regulations, guaranteeing this way; that the product is safe for consumers` health. During each process, analisys of risk in each of its critical points of control, are monitored constantly by a full time supervising team, control quality departmet staff and 9 inspectors from the Agro Forest Ministry. This constant monitoring includes microbiological laboratory tests to detect contaminats.
The industrial process respects the enviromental harmony, trough the utilization of 100% of the waste and the elimination of toxic waste.
The industrial plant got its HACCP certification in the year 1998. It posseses the approval to export to The United States since 1975, the same way, it posesses certification to 8 other countries.
To Comercial Industry San Martin Ltd. the continual improvement on all its processes has been a determinant factor of development, growing and positioning both in the national and Central American market.
Nowadays, it`s the leading company of the bovine meat export plant sector in Nicaragua. An average of 46% of participation during the last 5 years, the remaining 54% belongs to other 3 companies. Likewise, It is the leading company of this sector in the production and exportation to Central America level.
For the year 2007, it managed to process 185, 000 livestock, that means 620 livestock a day. With a production valued in a little bit more than $80 million dollars a year and a FOB value in exportation of $ 59 million dollars.
Currently, San Martin meat is exported to The United States and Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Taiwan and Japan.
It Is the major supplier to the biggest and most prestigious supermarket chains in Central America and Puerto Rico, besides well-known companies such as McDonald`s, Burger King and Cargill, among others.
